Games are important for the mental and physical development of children. Kids who play a lot of games tend to be smarter and healthier than their less active peers. Are games important for adults too? Let’s examine.
The same reasons that make games important for children make them important for adults too. Why do we insist that children should play games? Because it is good for their overall well-being. Games that stimulate the mind make kids sharper. If they play a lot of brain games they will have more intelligence. In the same way, games that require them to do a lot of physical activities make their body stronger and healthier. In other words, children who play games tend to be sharper and fitter than children who do not play games. Games also teach kids several lessons necessary for success in life. For example, when they play, they learn to deal with both success and failure; they learn the importance of team work.
Adults who play games reap the same benefits. Nowadays people lead a sedentary lifestyle which makes them prone to develop diseases like heart problems and cancer. Now that we have got gadgets to perform most of our day to day activities there is no point in expecting people to start becoming physically active again. Playing games is perhaps the best way to deal with the situation. It will make us physically active all over again. And because games provide entertainment, you don’t really have to push people to play. They will do it on their own.
What’s more, in today’s highly competitive work scenario, people face a lot of stress and tension which affect their productivity. Games help them to relax their minds. They provide a vent to release those pent up negative emotions. They rejuvenate the mind while providing the body enough physical activity.
After analyzing the situation, it is not hard to see that games are important for adults as they are for children. Anything that stimulates the body and mind is good for the overall well-being of the person. And that is exactly what games do. They make people happy and healthy. And healthy people mean a healthy nation.
