Ultimate Guide to Writing a Cause and Effect Essay Outline

Have you ever struggled with writing a basic outline for an essay? Honestly, who hasn’t? Outlines can be tough. They can make you focus on the very specifics of your essay and strip the topic to its essentials.

Needless to say, that is hardly an easy task. Most writers often ask others to write my essay. Well, it’s going to be made easier by me. I am here to provide you with a cause and effect essay outline that will help you write your essays easily. You just need to follow the steps. Cause and effect essays can be very bothersome, so providing an outline for them makes the most sense.

Let us get started.

Step 1: Introduction

No matter which type of essay you are writing, you will need to start with an introduction. Here, you need to give a brief background of your cause and its effects.

You can also state many causes and tell the effect of each cause separately.

But writing an essay with one cause and its many effects is rather easy so I am providing you an outline for that pattern.

Step 2: Thesis

After you are done with the introduction, give a separate heading, and state your thesis. It will tell you what your essay really is about, and what it discusses. So, it will state your cause and its effects in one or two sentences.

Try not to make your thesis statement very big or wordy.

Step 3: Cause

Now, you will give the heading of cause and state your problem in a little more detail. Previously, you only mentioned the background. Now, you will elaborate.

Use bullet points to add sources. Do your research.

Look for studies that prove your point and use authentic websites only. Otherwise, use journal articles.

Step 4: Effect 1

In the next heading, you will have to state the first effect of your cause. For example, if your cause is global warming then its effect would be the rise in sea levels. This heading would discuss the sea levels.

Again, go into a bit of detail and use sources.

Your professor will tell you the number of sources you need to use but if not, then it is best to use one in each paragraph.

Step 5: Effect 2

You need to follow the same pattern as step 4 for this one too. Just state the second effect of your problem and give the information.

Don’t forget to include your sources. They are very important because they show you that your information is legit

You can state more than two causes for your cause. Actually, you can state as many as you like but I have followed the usual 5 paragraph format.

Just don’t state so many causes that you can’t go into detail for each one. It’s best to just work with 2 or 3.

Step 6: Conclusion

This one is simple enough as it is. You just need to sum up all the information you have gathered.

Mention the cause and all the effects once again and conclude with a striking sentence. Your main focus should be on the body paragraphs.

So, that’s all folks.

That’s how you make an outline for a cause and effect essay. Just pick a problem and look for its effects. That’s the simplest way to write such an essay.

And do not worry. Cause and effect essays can be rather simple. You just need to pick the right topic and get going. And if you ever find yourself stuck, it’s a good idea to get your outlines checked by a professional essay writer online.
