Motor vehicles have become one of the biggest causes of environmental pollution. Some people believe that the best way to solve environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Environmental pollution is one of the biggest threats that mankind faces today. It affects the quality of air we breathe and causes many health problems. Environmental pollution is especially worse in cities where vehicular traffic is high.
Some people believe that the most effective way to solve this problem is to increase the cost of fuel. When fuel prices increase, more and more people will be forced to use public transport. This will reduce the number of vehicles on the road and improve the quality of air. However, I don’t believe that by simply increasing the cost of fuel we can solve all environmental problems.
In fact, motor vehicles are not the only cause of environmental pollution. Several household appliances like refrigerators and air conditioners also produce greenhouse gases and cause global warming. By increasing the cost of fuel we can only reduce the amount of carbon dioxide we emit. But factories will continue to emit poisonous gases into the atmosphere. By increasing the cost of fuel we can only improve the quality of air. This will not solve other problems affecting the environment. For these problems we need to find other solutions.
A better solution would be to increase awareness about the need to protect environment. If every one of us decides to lead a greener life, the problem of environmental pollution can be solved easily.
To conclude, the decision to increase the cost of fuel will definitely provide some relief in the short term. However, it is unlikely to solve the problem for ever. The best solution is to create awareness about the environmental consequences of our actions.
